Fort Bend ISD will showcase the District’s middle school orchestra students during its annual String Fling Concerts on Wednesday, February 2, and Thursday February 3, 2022.
Both events will take place at Hopson Field House, 3335 Hurricane Lane, Missouri City, 77459, begin at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
Each event will showcase more than 500 beginning orchestra students. The February 2 event will feature students from Baines, Crockett, Dulles, Fort Settlement, Hodges Bend, Sugar Land and Thornton middle schools. The February 3 event will highlight students who attend Bowie, First Colony, Garcia, Lake Olympia, McAuliffe, Missouri City, Quail Valley and Sartartia middle schools.
This year’s String Fling guest performers are violinist Rainel Joubert and double-bassist David Connor, both members of the Houston Symphony Orchestra’s Community-Embedded Musicians initiative.
Joubert has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba and the Opera and Ballet Orchestras of Havana. Connor completed two seasons with the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Florida. Both have appeared as guest performers at the FBISD String Fling in previous years.
